The Heroes of the Fatherland Day

The 9th of December is the Heroes of the Fatherland Day in Russia, established in memory of the Russian historical tradition of honoring Cavaliers of the Order of Saint George, approved on this day in 1769.

This award was reinstated by the President of the Russian Federation decree on August 8, 2000, as the highest war decoration.
On December 6, within celebration of the Heroes of the Fatherland Day at the Military Engineering Institute in order to ensure continuation of military, historical and cultural traditions of the Russian people, as well as, to strengthen cultural wealth, to increase the interest to Russian history and preserve the memory of the heroic past of our Homeland, the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, the full Cavalier of the Order of Glory, Litvinenko Nikolay Evgenyevich honored the officers and cadets of MEI with his presence.
During conversation Nikolay Evgenyevich spoke about his fighting experience, answered the questions, wished cadets all the best, and told them words of encouragement.
In the end of conversation, the pro-rector of general matters Garin Evgeny Nikolaevich presented to Litvinenko Nikolay Evgenyevich a valuable keepsake and said him warm words and wishes from all Military Engineering Institute personnel.
